When Lipidil Supra Should Not Be Used:
You should not use Lipidil Supra if you have had an allergic reaction to fenofibrate, fenofibric acid, or choline fenofibrate. You should not use Lipidil Supra if you are breastfeeding, or if you have liver disease (including cirrhosis), severe kidney disease, or gallbladder disease. Do not use Lipidil Supra if you are on a kidney dialysis.

How to Use Lipidil Supra:
Capsule, Delayed Release Capsule, Tablet

  • Your doctor will tell you how much of Lipidil Supra to use and how often. Your dose may need to be changed several times in order to find out what works best for you. Do not use more medicine or use it more often than your doctor tells you to.
  • Swallow the Trilipix® delayed-release capsules whole. Do not break, crush, dissolve, or chew it.
  • Trilipix® delayed-release capsules may be taken at the same time with a statin (such as atorvastatin, fluvastatin, lovastatin, pravastatin, rosuvastatin, simvastatin, Crestor, Lescol®, Lipitor®, Mevachor®, Pravachol®, or Zocor®).
  • You may take Lipidil Supra with or without food.
  • Carefully follow your doctor's instructions about any special diet. Your doctor may want you to exercise and to control your weight as part of your treatment.
  • Do not take Triglide™ tablets that are chipped or broken.
  • Lipidil Supra should come with a Medication Guide. Read and follow these instructions carefully. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions. Ask your pharmacist for the Medication Guide if you do not have one. Your doctor might ask you to sign some forms to show that you understand this information.

If a dose of Lipidil Supra is missed:

  • If you miss a dose or forget to use your medicine, use it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, wait until then to use the medicine and skip the missed dose. Do not use extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.

How to Store and Dispose of Lipidil Supra:

  • Keep Triglide™ tablets in their original bottle at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light. The bottle contains a small packet that keeps the tablets from getting damp.
  • Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.
  • Ask your pharmacist, doctor, or health caregiver about the best way to dispose of any leftover medicine after you have finished your treatment. You will also need to throw away old medicine after the expiration date has passed.
  • Keep all medicine away from children and never share your medicine with anyone.

Drugs and Foods to Avoid While Taking Lipidil Supra:
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.

  • Make sure your doctor knows if you are also using hormone replacement therapy, cyclosporine (Gengraf®, Neoral®, Sandimmune®), a blood thinner (such as warfarin, Coumadin®), or a diuretic or "water pill" (such as hydrochlorothiazide [HCTZ]). Tell your doctor if you are also using a blood pressure medicine (such as atenolol, metoprolol, propranolol, Inderal®, or Toprol®). Make sure your doctor knows if you are also using other medicine to lower cholesterol (such as Lipitor®, Mevacor®, Pravachol®, or Zocor®).
  • Tell your doctor if you are also using cholestyramine (Questran®), colestipol (Colestid®), or colesevelam (Welchol®). You must take your fenofibrate at least 1 hour before or 4 to 6 hours after taking any of these other medicines.
  • It is best to avoid drinking a lot of alcohol when you are being treated for high levels of fat in your blood.
  • Do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice while you are using Lipidil Supra with statins.

Warnings While Using Lipidil Supra:

  • Make sure your doctor knows if you are pregnant, or if you have kidney disease, heart disease, bleeding problems, diabetes, pancreas problems, thyroid problems, or a history of gallstones.
  • Lipidil Supra is only part of a complete program for lowering your cholesterol and triglyceride levels. You will be more successful in treating this problem if you follow all of your doctor's instructions, including eating a low-fat diet and exercising regularly.
  • If your doctor tells you to increase the amount of medicine you are taking or if you are just starting Lipidil Supra, make sure you tell the doctor right away if you get muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness.
  • Serious skin reactions can occur with Lipidil Supra. Check with your doctor right away if you have blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin; red skin lesions; severe acne or skin rash; sores or ulcers on the skin; or fever or chills while you are using Lipidil Supra.
  • Lipidil Supra lowers the number of some types of blood cells in your body. Because of this, you may bleed or get infections more easily. To help with these problems, avoid being near people who are sick or have infections. Wash your hands often. Stay away from rough sports or other situations where you could be bruised, cut, or injured. Brush and floss your teeth gently. Be careful when using sharp objects, including razors and fingernail clippers.
  • Your doctor will need to check your blood or urine at regular visits while you are using Lipidil Supra. Be sure to keep all appointments.
