When Hydrocortisone Enema Should Not Be Used:
You should not use Hydrocortisone Enema if you have had an allergic reaction to hydrocortisone or recent colostomy surgery.

How to Use Hydrocortisone Enema:
Enema

  • Your doctor will tell you how much to use and how often. Read and follow the instructions that came with Hydrocortisone Enema.
  • Wash your hands before and after using.
  • Shake the bottle well before use.
  • Remove the cover from the applicator tip of the bottle.
  • Lie on your left side with your left leg straightened out and right leg bent and in front of you. Gently put the tip of the applicator into your rectum. Squeeze the bottle gently to release the contents.
  • Remain lying down for about 30 minutes, so that the fluid moves throughout the left colon. After using the medicine, remove the applicator from the rectum and throw away.
  • If you have any questions about Hydrocortisone Enema, call your doctor or pharmacist.

If a dose of Hydrocortisone Enema is missed:

  • Use the missed dose as soon as possible.
  • Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next regular dose.
  • You should not use two doses at the same time.

How to Store and Dispose of Hydrocortisone Enema:

  • Store at room temperature, away from heat and direct light.
  • Keep all medicine out of the reach of children.

Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.

  • You should not use other rectal medicines while using Hydrocortisone Enema without first checking with your doctor.
  • Check with your doctor before you receive any vaccines while using Hydrocortisone Enema.

Warnings While Using Hydrocortisone Enema:

  • Talk with your doctor before using if you are pregnant, have active ulcers, diverticulitis, kidney disease, high blood pressure, or an infection.
  • You should not use Hydrocortisone Enema for other rectal problems without first checking with your doctor.
  • If you are exposed to chickenpox or measles while using Hydrocortisone Enema, tell your doctor as soon as possible.

Possible Side Effects While Using Hydrocortisone Enema:
Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects:

  • Severe rectal pain or bleeding

If you notice these less serious side effects while taking Hydrocortisone Enema, talk with your doctor:

  • Rectal irritation or burning
